Basic Piano Class I: Move your finger

After so many abstract concept, I bet most of you are eager to play the piano.

So, let's go back to the main point.

How do we play the piano?

Do you really think that those performers on the stage are trained only for one week or one month?

Nope! We know that they've been practicing for at least one year.

I guess many of you have known some basic playing skill with keyboard.

But, playing the piano is similar to building a house.

That really counts on hard work, good foundation.

So, Let's get to work!

First, let's play "Do (C)" for five times.

We usually play by our big thumb. So, just push your thumb five times to mock the situation on the keyboard!

Like this...

Very good. I guess this is too easy for you.

So, let's play " Do Re Do Re Do".

This playing will let you move your thumb and second finger in order.

Like this...

Oops! I might look down upon you.

You're so talented!!

Then, let's play "Do Re Mi Fa Do Re Mi Fa".

This will get a bit harder, but this won't disturb you.

Try to move your fingers as fast as this...

If you feel that this just piss you off, we may try some harder one!

What if we play "Do Re Mi Fa So La Si Do"(An Octave) ?

This is the basic playing skill. Many performers have experienced this for many times.

In the future, this Octave playing will show up thousands of times.

So, this is very important.

OK! No more talking. Let's move!!

If you can do this as fast as me, you must be ready for the next class.

So, remember to practice all of this playing skills.

Please try your best to play a complete octave.

Then, you will find out that playing the piano is no longer scary for you. ;)

Enjoy and have fun on the keyboard! :D

(If you don't have a real keyboard, you can imagine an air keyboard like the videos I recorded.)
